QUANTUM LAUNCHES NEW OFFERING FOR DATA RECOVERY AND DATA MIGRATION SERVICES
Quantum's Storage Data Services extends the data protection umbrella to customers using all storage brands and all types of media; facilitates upgrade paths for customers with legacy media.
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2003 - Quantum Corp. (NYSE:DSS), a leading provider of data protection systems, announced a new offering to provide data recovery and data migration services under the name Storage Data Services. The new service offers professional in-lab data recovery for all types and all brands of media including tape backups, servers and hard drives. Also available are services that move data between various media types, generally from older legacy tapes to newer SDLT formats.
In-lab data recovery restores application data that has been lost due to user error, device failure, virus damage, natural disaster or other reasons when there is no backup or the backup itself has failed. While there are very few requests to Quantum support for DLT-related recovery, Quantum recognized a growing need for data recovery in the broader market and saw a great fit to market these services consistent with their data protection focus. While working with data loss victims, Storage Data Services' first priority will be emergency recovery of vital data. When appropriate, the emergency service will be followed up with an introduction to a Quantum partner that can provide the customer with long term data protection products and services.
Customer demand during the SDLT and DX30 sales cycles sparked the idea to add data migration services service to the new offering. High volumes of data residing on legacy media are preventing some customers from upgrading to new technology. Other customers need access to archived data for legal reasons. Whatever the data and media migration requirements are, Quantum's Storage Data Services has the solution.
